Club debutant Arrie Van der Merwe picks up 5/22 and gets 22 as Windsor rock home on their first fixture of 2010

WINDSOR 260/5
Huggins 90
Defeated
EGHAM 92
Van der Merwe 5/23
Amid glourious weather, Windsor kicked off the 2010 season with a win against Surrey Championship Div 2 side Egham on the weekend.
Winning the toss, Nichols decided to have a bat with new additions Van den berg (38), Van der Merwe (22) along with Birch (28) all getting time in the middle. It was Huggins (90) though who took full advantage of his oppurtunities as with the help of Weston (14) and Nichols (21*), got the score to a very competitive 260/5 in 52 overs.
From here Windsor looked to attach with the old ball, and with the side missing spin king Ben Harris, Rah Mohindru (3/33) set about knocking the top order over. He provided good support to Van der Merwe (5/22) whose change ups and ability to keep the batsmen guessing will be invaluable to the side in 2010. Debutant Nick Borland (1/0) and Hartridge (1/14), picked up the tail as Windsor romped to a 168 run win.
Windsor will be hoping the same luck is on their side next week when they take on Maidenhead & Bray in the first inaugural “Gittens/Smith Cup”
