Windsor continue winning start to the season

Windsor CC continued their excellent start to the season with big wins for the Saturday 1st XI and the newly ressurrected Sunday XI, while the Saturday 2’s and 3’s also fought out a tight contest at the weekend.

For the Saturday 1’s Kris Baumgartner continued his fine start to the season with a century as Windsor posted 282-5 vs Farnham Royal. The Windsor skipper hit 101 before retiring, while Chris Dixon (68) and Mark Lines (52) were also in the runs, as Windsor ran up an imposing total.

In reply, Farnham Royal were dissmissed for 129. Adam Allen-Turner, making a welcome return to Windsor colours took 3-16, while Rob McKay and Carlie Jackson both picked up 2 each as Windsor ran out victors by 153 runs.

Things were a lot tighter over on C2, where Windsor 2s and 3’s decided to play each other in a keenly contested fixture. Rob Dawson dominated Windsor 3’s innings with 86, out of a total of 163 all out. Tom Brooker being the pick of the bowlers with 3 top order wickets.

Windsor’s reply got off to a steady start, but then wickets fell steadily. Newcomer Chris Klompas looked the part scoring 34, and Ben Lewis with a quickfire 31 got Windsor 2’s close, but eventually Windsor 3’s held out for an 8 run victory, the 2’s being all out for 155.

Sunday cricket made a welcome return as Windsor ran up 266-7 vs visitors Putney CC. In a flashback to 2003, Andy Chorley made 105 not out, well supported by Oliver Birch( 42) and Charlie Jackson (38).

Windsor’s bowlers then made short work of the visitors, dismissing them for 74 to complete a 192 run victory.

This Saturday Windsor are sure to face a sterner challenge when Egham CC visit Home Park, while the 2’s play the same opposition away. The 3’s have a home conference fixture. The Sunday XI will also be in action, with a home confererence fixture. Details to follow.
