With Windsor 3’s game cancelled, there were just the 1’s and 2’s in action for the first round of Thames Valley League games.
Windsor 1’s visited Hayes, and hit an imposing 288-7 off 50 overs. Kris Baumgarntner led the way with an imperious 92, while Adam Weston (56) and Matt Lazarczuk (46) put Windsor in a seemingly impregnable position.
That’s where the good news ended, as Hayes, aided by some wayward bowling remarkably reached Windsor’s total with 3 wickets in hand in the final over.
Windsor 2’s meanwhile overcame Hayes 2’s in Division 5A by 6 wickets. An excellent all round bowling display saw Hayes dismissed for 111, with Rob McKay (3-17) and Jeevan Singh (3-26) doing most of the damage. Windsor’s reply wobbled early, slipping to 14-2, but Henry Evans remained steadfast and batted through the innings for an excellent 49 not out, as Windsor won by 6 wickets.
