Over the May bank holiday, the U10’s assembled a well drilled, organised team and decided to take on the cream of the Surrey Youth league in an all day tournament hosted by Horsley & Send. The picture perfect cricket club had attracted the likes of Teddington, Esher and Ashtead to compete in what was an 8 a side, ten over tournament.
Windsor U10’s finished top of their group by defeating Teddington and the home team Horsley & Send, both by a considerable margin. The victories accomplished with a mix of accurate bowling from spin twins Josh Jayasuri & Freddie Fearnley, raw pace from Sam Storey and some stylish batting from Kieran Lall.
The final saw two well matched teams put on an amazing display of cricket for players so young. After a devastating opening spell of bowling from Windsor’s Lau Ten-Cate, Ashtead posted an above par total of 76 runs in their 10 overs. Windsor, with no sign of panic in the chase, accumulated runs steadily with Mattias Seuren & Ben Moffat both scoring calm 25’s each to ensure that the target was always well within reach. Guided to victory by skipper Dan Ormond with one over to spare ensured a lot of smiles, a fair amount of sunburn and a trophy to take back home to Windsor Cricket Club!
